The Division of Gorton, in Melbourne’s outer-west, is bordered to the east by the Organ Pipes National Park and the Calder Freeway. It is a mix of established residential suburbs and fast-growing hubs along the Western Freeway growth corridor.
Gorton includes the suburbs and localities of Aintree, Albanvale, Bonnie Brook, Burnside, Burnside Heights, Caroline Springs, Deanside, Deer Park, Delahey, Derrimut, Fraser Rise, Fieldstone, Grangefields, Hillside, Keilor, Keilor Downs, Kings Park, Mount Cottrell, Mt Atkinson, Ravenhall, Rockbank, Sydenham, Taylors Hill, Taylors Lakes, and Thornhill Park.
It incorporates suburbs in the Cities of Melton and Brimbank.
The electorate is on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and is now home to almost 200,000 residents.
Our area is home to one of Australia’s fastest growing and most culturally diverse populations. We are incredibly lucky to have countless local groups, organisations and businesses that contribute to our strong, tight-knit community.
Created in 2001, Gorton is named after Australia’s 19th Prime Minister, Sir John Gorton. He served as Prime Minister from 1968 to 1971.

I’d like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet today. I would also like to pay my respects to Elders past and present and future custodians and Elders of the nation.
